RESEARCH
The core of my research interest focuses on the integration of engineering,
management, policy, and technology to achieve enhanced results for both organizations and projects.
In my research career, I have examined the impact of; technology on organizations, leadership in developing
long-term success, strategy in successful organizations, and teams in achieving high performance outcomes.
Each of these topics represents elements that engineering organizations must address to improve project
outcomes and enhance the potential for long-term viability and success. Events such as the Indian Ocean tsunami,
Hurricane Katrina, and the global economic crisis have highlighted the importance of strategy and teams to the health
of a project and an organization. Through my research efforts, I have discovered the relationships between teams and project outcomes,
the impact of technology on project teams, and I was one of the first to study how civil engineering
organizations evolve from simply sustaining to achieving long-term success. Applying these findings in
both an industry and research context continues to provide a direction for pursuing discovery in a number of related areas.
